Hi my degu Role has very scabby ears they have been like it for a few months now I assumed she was just a little dirty git but it's got progressively worse over the last week or so.
I've seen some people say it's ring worm but after a few months it would be more aparent no?
So could any one help, getting worried about her she is fine in herself likes her food and runs around she is through on her own she was with another but she became somewhat of a bully so I separated them that was a year or so ago now and they are both fine, apart form Rolo's ears.
Any advice people?

It could be any number of parasites or a skin infection, the only way to really find out is a scraping by a vet. It's very straight forward to do if your goo is people friendly.

Yeah, I think you should have a vet look at them and get a scraping so they can look under a microscope and see if there are any mites or such things present.

I agree she should see the vet, the vet may just decide to try an anti fungal or anti mite treatment on a trial and error basis, both treatments are fairly straightforward. There is also a small chance it could be a circulation issue or something else. It's no wonder her damaged ears have got scruffy if she is on her own, she has no way to groom her own ears, except with her feet. It's not great for them mentally to be separated and alone long term. Perhaps you could think about trying to get them back together again gradually. Degu husbandry has advanced quite a bit in recent years, perhaps you would be interested in our new beginnners guide, it has links to our introduction advice too deguworld.proboards.com/thread/19754/beginners-guide-degu-keepingWelcome to the forum, let us know how you get on.

Don't buy any over the counter treatments though they can be very toxic to degus even if its stated safe for all small mammals and rodents. Used a vet prescribed treatment :-)

Wondering what the state of things are with your little goo. Have her ears been seen to? Any improvement?
