Does anyone else knit cage accessories for their degus? I use size 15 needles with 100% cotton or jute string to create cargo nets. We have two pairs of goos and two of them love them but the other two don't bother much. I still put them in their cage as it helps to change the layout every week. Sorry for the quality of the images, my phone's camera sucks.

LOL! Not brave enough to try knitting. But that is a brilliant idea!

Love them - repairable/reknittable too.

Are you able to see pictures? I am not.
I would be afraid of the degu paws (and claws) to get stuck in the stitches.

Love knitting, when my arms allow. Never thought of knitting anything for them, but very curious now! I have made them a long bit of macrame from sisal rope to help them climb the outside of the cage, though.

Maravilla, 'knitted layers' and 'kitted obstacle' are titles built in to the pics, once the pics load, you don't see those titles. Have you refreshed or tried a different browser? I've looked at the tags, they are long and complicated, one is coming from a google account and the other pinterest. Anyway, this should load up the first pic for you:

I have used my knifty knitter (loom) to create a similar structure before I got the degus. When I get their new cage finished, I'll have to see about making something that will fit the cage. I've taught myself to knit with needles and could probably manage something this basic out of sisal. I've also purchased sisal rope at my local hardware store and braided it to make a thick rope for the cage. When I saw the title, I thought, "Someone is knitting little outfits for their degus? This I have to see." LOL Good to know that isn't what was happening. However, has anyone tried knitting a hammock for them with a tight weave so no one falls through? Or has anyone made fleece hammocks for them? I've made fleece hammocks and tunnels for my rats, but thought the degus would just chew them right up.

Yes, fleece hammocks and tunnels have been used a lot with degus. They seem to quite like them for the most part. However, the urge to chew has occasionally been the fatal end of a few. Really depends on the degus though. Most will leave them alone for the most part.

I am absolutely going to do this, but I think I'll do it with sisal rope from the dollar store.

I had a go at making cargo net with sisal using fishing net knots, it worked quite well once I got my hear around the knotting. Sorry I can't find the web pages I used for instructions, I think they are on my old laptop that blew up. Don't forget we have tons of other links, how tos and even videos for making accessories: deguworld.proboards.com/thread/18716/accessories-bedding-toy-ideas
