My 2 male degus got in to a fight and injured each other, I separated them and have been checking to make sure nothing really serious is wrong with them. One seems to just have a cut on his front paw, it's been bleeding and he won't put any weight on it but other than that he has been eating and drinking and running in the wheel. The other seems worse, he has some scratches on his face and the corner of his eye, and after sleeping for a bit it seems like he isn't able to open his eye. Maybe it bleed a bit and dryed so he cannot open it because it was open before. He has a cut on his paw also but I've seen him putting some weight on it. And a few other scratches on him. He does seem to moving around ok and has also been eating and drinking. I know I need to take them to the vets, does anyone have any idea about the costs for a checkup and would I need to pay for both of them or would I be able to class them both as one appointment and therefore pay less? I don't have much money but I think they need to go to the vet today. Any advice would be great

You would need to ask the veterinary office that. I would think they would tell you that information over the phone. Where do you live?

Here's some starter info about going to the vet deguworld.proboards.com/thread/15521/vet-guide?page=1Have you been before, do you have a vet? If not, check our list and if there is nobody recommended locally then you need to ring round and ask if they have degu experience. A basic consultation usually costs between £10 and £25, my vet sees two for the price of one but I have no idea if that is standard or not, possibly not. Antibiotics usually cost about £5 and metacam painkiller is about £8. In the meantime, you could try some cooled boiled water soaked into kitchen roll pressed gently on the eye to try to free it off. Some people like to bathe wounds in cooled boiled water with salt in, but I wouldn't touch them unless they look like there is muck stuck in the wound. You could try a pet safe antiseptic spray. Have you removed the sand to stop it getting into the wounds?

Put the bleed paw in cornflower. Should help stop the bleeding sooner.
