Hello! Recently I made a thread for my degu chocolate who had a prolapse penis, I took him to the vet like everyone said and tonight I noticed it is out again. The vet said if it comes out again it's best not to put him through the stress to bring him back (only because the stupid vet dropped my baby chocolate and blamed it on his age!) he has not had a problem before and this is the first thing. If the vet wasn't much help, I can take him back again though could I have someone's help?
I looked at it tonight and there is blood... He was gritting his teeth, he is very uncomfortable and it saddens me because he is like my child :c but hopefully he'll be okay.
A little about him; He is roughly 4-4 and a half, he had his brother biscuit for 3 though he sadly passed away, I talk to him all the time so he doesn't get too lonely. He is very VERY lively and he acts 2. He is average weight, healthy teeth glossy coat

Sometimes a ring of hairs forms around the extended penis and it prevents the penis from retracting. Have a really good look at it and see if that is present. Also there are drops for use in dog ears that works really good as a lubricant and it has anti-inflammatory properties, both of which will help it to go back in. It is called Canaural. Here is a copy of the thread. Yes two of our males suffered with prolapses after their neutering to varying degrees. We ended up using canaural (ear drops)I think it was on Jerry, the vet recommended that they had a mild antibiotic, mild steroid and some anti inflammatory in there as well as being a good lubricant. We had to use a cotton bud to lubricate it at first, and then we had to use a pipette filled with canaural and push the pipette into the cone to make sure it was lubricating within the sheath...we were not popular owners at that time....Jose was not keen on the treatment but it did do the trick and he had quite a persistent and large prolapse. A Vet should examine the penis carefully, check for swelling in the abdomen, and everything looks OK they should give you some kind of anti-inflammatory and antibiotic/ antisepticcream. If your vet didn't do this you may need to look for a better vet if possible. If the problem continues the vet may want to try getting the penis back in and then putting in a stitch to make the gap it comes out of a bit tighter.
I have all my degu vet appointments on the floor, at least the risky part until they get a good hold!

I agree, a new vet sounds like something to look into.

I recently read somewhere than making a balm by melting some petroleum jelly infusing marigold petals( Calendula) in it then strain and let it set again can be heplful reducing inflammation and promoting wound healing so might be worth giving it a go too
