I'm in need of a new cage as I'm getting 2 new degus as new friends for my lonely goo. A tall one would be preferable to a wide one but I just can't seem to find any I think would be a suitable size for 3 degus. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi, I have my 3 in a Liberta Explorer cage (purchased from Amazon). It is tall but also quite wide (I think ~100cm) so it might be too wide for your needs? Not sure how wide you think is too wide but I expect most degu-suitable cages will be around the 100cm wide mark. I have had to modify the cage quite a bit to suit my 3 - replacing the plastic trays with metal trays and adding wood shelves to increase the floor space. They are very happy in their cage. Alternatives are the Xtrail and the Savic Royal - but both are similar to the Explorer. John Hopewell (UK) makes degu cages, some of which are more tall than wide - suggest you take a look at the cages on his website? Good luck in your search!

I don't think you have that much choice because minimum recommended width is 1m and the max width for the biggest commonly available cages (Xtrail type) is about 93cm, we definitely don't recommend you go narrower than this. The Xtrail/ Explorer/ Aventura type are suitable for 3 degus if you extend the half shelves into full shelves. An alternative that might make sense while you are doing a two to one intro is the Liberta Tower, which has no shelves, so you put your own shelves in and can divide it where you want and could potentially included a meeting place on the same level.

Thank you for suggesting some, I'll get onto looking at some of the ones you said. What are your thoughts on the Lazy Bones 3 Storey cage and the Little Zoo Finely Ranger R53P (if I were to replace the shelves with something that isn't plastic)? I've also seen people putting shelves etc into bird cages?

Both of those are too narrow and not big enough. Adequate space is crucial for a successful introduction.
It is possible to get creative with some bird cages, but I would only recommend doing this with a second hand cage, otherwise you are making work for yourself. Also keep an eye on mesh/ bar spacing, 19mm is good, 25mm mesh is usually OK for full adults, but I wouldn't recommend 25mm bars as there is too much 'give' that could allow escapes.
