Hello, One of our Degus has had teeth complaints for around 6 months. Been back and fourth to vets and currently on a regular routine of anti-inflammatories. Over this time she has been losing weight though. If I want to aid in her weight gain is critical care a good start? I'm UK based. Would the below be okay? www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B004W78400?vs=1Thank you.

Critical care is helpful, but you can start giving her things like almonds, pecans, hazelnuts, sunflower seeds, coriander seeds, hemp seeds, pumpkin seeds, celery seeds, flax seeds, fenugreek leaves and seeds, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, greens like dandelion leaves, herbs such as basil, dill, oregano, cilantro, carrot tops, beet tops, romaine lettuce, and lots more that you can easily find in our diet and nutrition board threads. Here are some . . . deguworld.proboards.com/thread/16425/degu-feeding-guide . . . deguworld.proboards.com/thread/15795/links-interesting-food-threads . Those will give you a great start. One more thing that can really help pack in some calories for a degu that is losing weight are porridge oats. Don't give these in too large a quantity, but if you were to give her say 2 tablespoons every couple of days, until you see her approaching a healthier weight, that would be OK.

I think Critical Care contains some sugar, so you wouldn't want to feed a lot every day, although I do think a little might help her stomach resist the anti inflammatories a bit, (they can be harsh on the stomach). It's the herbivore one that you want.
For weight gain generally I would get both of the degu seed mixes from Ratrations and feed those, and a few nuts.
