Thanks.
I am very grateful that I can do this for them.

Taking Go to the vet again. I am very worried because last night I noticed she was having trouble with her right eye. It was bothering her and she was keeping it closed most of the time. This morning, it looks worse – totally closed up and she is scratching at it. It's been almost two months since the second time spurs were removed. I am so afraid that she may be going the way her auntie Azure did with molars growing into her eye sockets. Hopefully it is not that (she is only 3.5 years old) – maybe it's an injury to the eye. Her appointment is tomorrow at 4pm.

Thinking of you and keeping everything crossed for a positive outcome!

Back from the vet. Go has an injury to her eye – quite a big one. Cornea looks all cloudy. The vet did an eye stain and it did reveal a big injury to the eye like a piece of wood might have hit it or she may have run into something. That said: She will recover. He prescribed "fucithalmic eye gel" that is an antibiotic. We are to put it on her right eye three times a day for a week-10 days. If her eye doesn't look a lot better in a week, I need to bring her back for a recheck. So relieved that it is not a teeth issue. (The 'crossing everything' must have worked. Thanks. )

Phew, so glad it wasn't her teeth, it's about time you caught a break on that front! But good luck getting the eye gel on! Do you stand any chance of being able to do this? I wonder how she injured it?

My husband is helping me. (He is so good with the animals. Couldn't do this without him.) Last night, he held Go and then I tried to put a drop in but she squirmed and I might have ended up poking her in the eye (hope not; I'm a major clutz – that's why I know I couldn't be a vet tech or vet). So he told me just to hold the dispenser 6 inches away and aim right. That worked last night. However, this morning we tried that and the drop landed on her nose. So he dabbed it with his finger then dabbed the medication onto her eye. She seemed to have no problem with that. (Had to dab a wet cotton pad on her eyelid first because the lid was stuck together. She liked that too. Probably felt good to have something cool against her eye.)
She didn't take to the Metacam on a pea like Lilac does (Lilac loves it). Metacam wasn't prescribed but the vet said it would be okay for me to give it to her to help contol the pain and inflammation.
No idea how she injured the eye. (So afraid that maybe she ran into my hand when I was feeding them but my husband said I was being silly thinking that.) The goos like to run around with sticks in their mouths or maybe she ran into something in the cage. We will probably never know. Hopefully it never happens again.

Doesn't seem likely to me either that she would have run into your hand, seems more likely to be something movable where she wasn't expecting it, like a stick. Well done Mr Yasmin If it's any help, Degutopia says twice a day for the fucithalmic, so it's maybe not so crucial if the dose doesn't always go in so well. I think the metacam is a good idea if she is fussing at it due to pain. Get well soon, Go x

Twice a day is all we've been able to manage so it is reassuring that that is what others prescribe. She is doing better - eye is a bit open and she doesn't seem to be in any pain. Also, the cloudiness in the eye is dissipating.

One of ours had a blunt eye trauma, which took quite a while to fully disappear but our guy did have cataracts so we assumed he had just run into something

She doesn't flinch at all when he applies the antibiotic. Also, the eye is no longer glued shut and she is back to her ole self activity-wise but her cornea is still cloudy. And, this morning she ran into my hand again when I was offering treats (fortunately, her forehead — not her eye — made contact with my hand).

Taking Go to the vet. She's been sitting all fluffed up the past couple of days. She still eats but selectively, is still active, grinds her teeth a bit. Think it might be spurs again (but I guess it could also be grief/depression – she lost her mom, Lilac, a few weeks ago). Last time she went for a dental check was in June/July; all was well then. (She turned 4 years old in September.)

How did things go, Yasmin?

Go had a large spur growing over her tongue. The vet removed that. However, she also has a one inch long growth in her lower abdomen. Not sure what it is but her lungs etc. looked fine on the x-ray. She had alot of gas in her bowel so the mass was partially hidden by that. I have started a new thread in the Health section. I will keep that updated.

One of our eldest males had a tumor under the skin just on the inside of his left hind leg. It was very slow growing, and did not hinder him or seem to cause pain. However, when my Mom's cancer metastasized and we had to rehome all our goos, and I have no idea what has come of him now. I am sorry I can't be of help to you. His tumor was definitely in a different location though, and would have very different consequences I expect.
