I have discovered tonight that Sqeak has reddish or orange pee. Today he has had his usual floral mix and last night a little drop pah nuggets. He is fine on himself. Any advice?

There are some greens that can cause a reddish/orange colouring in the urine. I think it is likely that this is what you are seeing. However, you should keep an eye on him, to see if it continues, gets worse, or if he shows any discomfort. I find myself thinking there are sticks that you could dip into the urine to see if there is blood present . . . but that could be "false" information derived from my favorite crime shows.

Thanks. I will keep an eye on him over the weekend and if it continues I will go to the vets. It just seemed strange that he did this after eating the same food for years.

Given him any apple bark? This always did it for my boys.

Bark and hibiscus flowers are the main culprits with us. It does seem strange if you have never noticed it before with the same food. Keep an eye out for discomfort or change in levels of drinking/ urinating.

If it becomes redder and redder as the days progress, then it might be blood. Otherwise, it is more likely that it is just from the food/flowers he's eaten.
If you do decide to go to the vet, try and collect as much pee as you can so that the vet can look at it under a microscope. Lining his carrying case or his cage with waxed paper will allow you to get samples of it.

The only unusual thing that he has had was some Bephar Degu care nuggets which I have seen from this board are about as good as p@h ones. So wondering if this is the issue. The only other thing is that he keeps jumping from the top of his cage on to the floor. He is a hooligan when it comes to jumping and climbing. So also wonder if he has had a wee injury. He has been totally himself, no weird behaviour or off his food thankfully. Would have been ironic as he lost his partner a year ago today!
The upshot is that I haven seen any evidence over the weekend of any more really bright pee and I have gave him a complete cage clean. So here's hoping.
Thanks once again for all the good advice. X
