Out of curiosity, would those who know be willing to share how much their goos weigh?
We just bought new scales and our old ones were well out. We had our girls pegged at 170 - 200g each, turns out their closer to 300 and Mater, our big male actually weighs 317g! Are they little porkers or is this somewhere near normal? All 3 dominant goos are the heaviest in each cage which I assume is normal, just a bit shocked at how far out our old scales were!

My two boys are 252g and 253g .... . Think I know why they are always fighting and there is not a clear leader lol. They are 3 years old and have a huge bedroom to run around in - spoiled rats.

Have you checked the scales with something whose weight your know? I normally (here in Germany) recommend a piece of butter as it weighs 250g (plus the few grams for the paper). Did you put the scale on a very flat surface?

Our goos range from 190g up to 300g, and the female we have just adopted weighed in at 323g on her first weigh in!!

Two of ours are over 300g and they kind of insist on being that way, if I reduce the food, they reduce their activity, plus ours put on weight for the winter and then lose some for the summer. I think there is quite a bit of variation in size/ length/ build of degus, so some look right at 300g and others look in proportion at 200g.

It depends on the time od year but at the moment: Gandi - 250g Smeggle - 265g Venk - 275g Pip (my big lad) - 310g
I have the same thing happen that Molette does. Pip was under 300 a month or two back but it coincided with a tooth issue he was having. He's since put the weight back on and doesn't get anything extra (if anything I give him a little less) from the others.

Thanks folks. :-) Everyone looks healthy and sleek, tbh Freaky is the lightest of them all and she is the only one that looks plump because she spends half her life all fluffed up over nothing at all, lol.
