A few days ago when I went to feed my degus, (almost) three-year old Chuugi was making these whimpering squeaky noises. He continued this when he ate, and after he ate. However, the next day he was normal again.
Then again today when I went to feed him he was again making these noises.
Does anyone have any idea what this might be? I can't seem to figure out if it is an intentional sound he's making, or if it's when he breathes or what. He is otherwise behaving/looking normal. Am tempted to take him to the vet for a full checkup because the sounds he makes are similar to (but not exactly the same) as what Lilac was making when we found out that she had molars growing into her nasal cavity.

Thanks animalmadchloe. Yup, I guess this is what he's doing – because he wasn't doing it anymore last night or this morning. Good to know other degus do this. Maybe I freak him out a bit when I enter the room.
