We have noticed that Mater is something of a sleepy goo. He has little bursts of activity and then dozes for a couple of hours. Is this because he is an older goo (about 5)? A lazy goo? Or could it be a stress reaction? There have been a lot of changes in a short space of time: they have moved away from their friends, got a new cage, had their friends move back as well as a big bust up all in about 2 weeks. Am I worrying needlessly?

There are a few things it could be down to. Age can be a factor but my eldest tends to rest more for short periods of time with bursts of energy in between than the young'uns.
Have you checked him over for any scabs/inflammation/lumps/had a good look at his teeth? Any sort of illness (and stress can contribute to them feeling under the weather) can knock them for six to the point where they have very little energy compared to normal. Again - going back to my Gandalf - he suffers from a persistant illness which, at the moment, is well under control (touch wood it stays that way). But as soon as it gets worse then he sleeps a lot more, socialises with the others less and is a lot more subdued in general.

We've only had them for about 10 days so not sure if this is just his normal level of activity. He did get a nice scratch in the fight but it has healed ok, no signs of any problems or infection, and the bits of fur he lost are growing back. They are socialising well, Buddy seems to be sort of looking out for him, popping back for grooming, snuffling together etc. He is eating and drinking normally, using the wheel, bathing and coming up for treats and fusses. He just seems to have less get up and go than the girls and the other boys, but both are conciderably younger.

If you're still in contact with his previous owner then perhaps they can tell you a bit more about his general behaviour? I certainly wouldn't be concerned about him being slower than the others, that's perfectly normal with age

Another quick question, which one is Brian and which one is Stu? They both respond to both names, lol. :-)
