I found a Degu in my backyard it was hurt I took it in and I do not want to keep him because I have other pets. If you want him it’s yours you will just need to come and get him. I would like to find a safe home for him because he seems scare maybe he belong to someone and accidently left home we ask the neighbors but we didn’t find an owner. I don’t know if I should release it again. Any suggestions or does anyone want to take him?

Don't release him, animals like that have a death sentence in the wild - he is extremely lucky that you found him and were able to grab him and take him somewhere safe! Thank you for that! Any vet clinic or rescue centre should be able to take him in if you do not want to keep him. It might help as well putting found signs out in the neighbour - I doubt he got that far.

ugh .... I'm not a fan of that vet. This is an international forum so we need to know your location to see if anyone is close by and can take him. There are a unqiue pet so if you are willing to take care of him/her for now you might want to know the following tid bits about them -they can chew through plastic easily so a wooden/metal cage is necessary and very large because of how active they are (a 30 gallon tank or so should be fine if it is injured and needs rest to heal) -they are very sensitive to sugar so no food or treats with sugar in them - look for proper degu pellets, hay or a mix food for guinea pigs without fruit or molasses in it -hiding spots, houses and tubes they love - same with cardboard, kitchen paper towels, toilet paper etc
thank you for saving the little guy .... what injures does he have and how serious do they look?

I live in Denver Colorado for the injuries the tip of the tail the fur part fell off. He was bleeding and I was concern but it stopped. Today he wasnt really moving and he seemed scared and didnt eat or drink water.

Well done for taking him in. Keep him quiet for now, he's probably shocked (both by getting lost being captured again) and will calm down with time. The tip of the tail is designed to come off if a predator grabs it, it should heal in time naturally. Have you put a "found" advertisement on Craig's List or something? I hope you can keep him for a few days to give you a chance to find somewhere safe to send him. I found these, are they any use?: www.applewoodrescue.org/rodent.rescueshelter.com/Colorado

If you don't have something like this in your cage already it may be worthwhile getting him a hidey-hole where he can burrow away and feel safe and enclosed - like a big cardboard tube, nesting box etc. Might help to calm him down. As well as the shock he may be pining for his cage mates as degus usually live in large groups. Any more questions, do keep asking
