As a few of you know we took in rescue degus and one of the females gave birth we decided to rehome 4 female degus babies and keep 2 boys who are in there cage with dad
This left 2 adult females in there cage, babies went to fantastic homes but female who had them has stopped eating and is starting to look thin is it possible this is because of her babies going? And does anyone suggest to how get her eating? Seen recipy on here I was going to try her with
There fed pets at home degu nuggets mixed with a seed based feed given fresh greens in moderation and dry dandelion mix as well as hay .Kept in a multi story cage 2ft x2ft and 4ft wide with ledges and hiding places

Do you know her weight? Or have a record of her weight from the past few months?
Have you seen her eating hard foods okay? A good one to try is dandelion root as degus tend to love it and it's tough to get through.
I haven't heard any stories of degus losing their appetite after their pups are rehomed but it doesn't mean it's not possible; they will have bonded with them quite quickly so to lose them abruptly might take some time to adjust. I'd imagine it would be similar to the death of a companion as they don't know exactly what's happened - just that they're gone - so grief is a possibility. However, to be safe I would recommend a trip to the vets for a check-up just to make sure there isn't anything missed health-wise.
