There is a tree just outside my garden, that is large and overhangs, so we often chop branches off it. It's has just had brown catkins, and in autumn has small nuts. Anybody know what it could be and if branches would be safe for degus. This would be great if it was safe, as they love branches, and this would a huge supply for them!

Just take a picture - much easier to accurately identify compared to a description Josh

Think it is a hazel tree, there is about 3 all around my house, they are just starting to get leaves, but their are loads of empty nut shells around the bases (the local squirrels love them). If I was to give them branches now they are in leaf, do I have to remove the leaves. Tried to add a photo to message but file is too big.
