I wonder if you could make these things out of old bed-sheets and the likes

If you cut them into strips and used them like rope then i don't see why not Plusit would save a bit of money and you will be taking one step more to saving the world

so had a go last night and pretty happy with the way most of them worked out first attempt at the monkey fist, pretty happy with it tbh, should make a nice chew toy plus climbing rope i think first ladder, turned out a bit short because i wasnt sure how much rope i needed, think i used about 2.5meters, but it was just a rough estimation (couldnt be bothered getting the mesuring tape ) think i will try another one with more rope, but like the way it has turned out The cargo net so far. had a bit more trouble with this one, not sure if i like how its turning out, just seems to be getting wider and wider, but im gonna have a fiddle around and see if i can fix it up a bit better I wonder if you could make these things out of old bed-sheets and the likes that sounds like a really good idea, might have to try it out too, would be a good way to make some bulkier chew toys/ climbing ropes

What about old cotton socks cut in strips as well?

You would have to knot them together end to end, so some things may not work, but you could probably make some sort of interesting bridges/cargo nets with enough strips

Looking really great Shads, if you find the netting is gettig wider then it may have something todo with you making the "loops" a little bigger as you go along But then i could be wrong ;D I think using old sheets and stuff is a great idea, would love to see some of them if anyone makes then

yea they probably are getting a bit bigger, its really hard to get the knot tight and keep the loop the right size, but im gonna try making another one the same size and then try and join them in the middle to make a sort of hammock type thing i think, and see if that works

Could you not use a guide to keep the loops the same size? Like put the rope around a thin glass for length to standardise it each time?

You could do that NTG and its a great idea, the other thing you could do is make a "rig" with 4 nails in a bit of board in a square shape and use that to hold it all to the right size.

Yeah but my idea requires less effort.. And less risk of bashing my fingers
