Been on the forum for a while but never really introduced my little animals. First time we ever saw degus was in a pet shop and it was love on first sight, I was never interested in pets like hamsters, guinea pigs or other rodents. I always had cats around me and when I was younger also dogs and rabbits. So now me and my wife have 2 cats and 5 degus, we live in Germany somewhere near the Dutch border. Our first 2 degus, sisters Luna and Juno, they looked very scared because they just moved in with us. Luna and Juno are born in April 2009. Luna and Juno again. (They are both Dutch) A bit later on we took Abi, born may 2009 in Germany Pixi, born December 2009 joined us 8 months later. (Pixi is also Dutch) Young Abi, Juno and Luna Last year we got Mala, a German girl born in February 2011 We have them in 2 groups a German and a Dutch group, we had some problems, Pixi was a real terrorist and tried to fight everybody but when she became older we got her back with the 2 sisters. Abi was suddenly kicked out by the sisters but lives now with Mala

Our very first degu cage. The second cage, here just after (re)building An old and a newer picture from the cage, it changed a lot over time, actually it changes every time we clean the cage. Our second cage is actually an emergency cage because it's too small. We are in the progress to get 2 totally new cages but first I have to move to another house myself.

I would just like to compliment you on your stunning, gorgeous looking Degus and Luna is a wonderful name isn't it? your little terrorist, Pixie looks a lot like my Luna, full of mischief! Your cages are also impressive and I like the way that you change them around regularly.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments luna1, I think Luna is a very popular name among degus ;D Wow you have a stylish cage . Looks really good *g*. The wodden flying saucer, is it one of this famous IKEA DIY constructions? Thanks, too bad we have to get rid of this cage it's very nice but big en heavy and in the next couple of years we have to move at least 4 times to a new place. We need something light and easy to take with us. And yes this is 1 type (because there are 2 ) of the DIY IKEA lauftellers and they have so much fun with it

New house for all of us! My wife and me moved to a new house and our degus got a new house too! 2 cages, 170 cm high (120 for degus 50 for storage) 90 cm wide and 60 cm deep Top level from the sisters Abi asking for room service Mala want something too There are 2 levels in the cages and we made some extra wooden shelves but it's the first setup so probably it's gonna change. It's made out of aluminum and HPL (High Presure Laminate) Degus seems happy with there new home, it's a bit darker then the terrarium we had but it's easier to clean, it's more open (beter ventilation) and easier to move. Cats seems to be happy too

Lovely new cage Did you design it yourself? Yes but it was made by an aviary construction company and they did a very good job. We have them for 7 weeks now and we are all (degus and us) still very happy we got those cages. Very easy to clean and to keep it clean. Kitty wants a new cage too Pixi, Juno and Luna are thanking you all for the nice comments
