so while i feel asleep on the couch lmao my boyfriend was playing xbox... they were sleeping nicely in the box for now.. it is a rather deep and large printer box with shavings, dust and other trimmings to make their remeeting nice... however... lol bf sees a lil one scurry across the carpet.. muhahaha... is like 'what the heck' which wakes me up to find one lil furry outta the box... hahah.. tommy runs around the livingroom then right back to me into my hands when i wake up... lol bf is funny now cause i think he is sad that they come to me so easily. they are now safely both in their shared cage and hopefully enjoying it. was a funny moment for sure..

hehe...thats funny. Tommy must be really happy to see his brother back with him. I agree with emz. If you have a camera, take a few shots of them. Let us know when you come up with a name for the other goo : )

Here are the boys.. I can't tell who is who in the picture lol only in person because Tommy is the smaller of the two. Tommy is on the left here, the not so chubby guy lol I wanna call the other Heffalump but bf says no! I'm still paranoid a little when I hear squeeking coming from the cage *sighs*

Can you describe the squeaking? Maybe we can tell you what it means and you can feel more at ease? They look so content together in the first picture, it made my day. My suggestion for the other is Chuck simply because of those two characters from that cartoon called Rugratz "Tommy and Chuckie" which I use to watch back as a child and it somehow popped to mind lol. I do like Heffalump though hehe. Hope you think of a name soon.

Just like one squeak here and there.. I think they are both on the wheel together but if I get up there they stop lol..

If it is a squeak that sounds like a moan then it's one being possessive over an item (food/water/wheel/etc.) if it is a one-off "meep" then it sounds like one is grooming the other too hard, they squeak like that to say "oy that hurts" so that the groom softer. Or depending on the squeak a slight disagreement. Doesn't sound like anything to worry about though.
And lol reminds me of mine, they still do it after all this time. They run, then if someone moves they both stop and stare out to make sure it isn't a predator or something, then continue running. ;D

They look very happy and contented! I was wondering how long it would take for one of them to find a way out of the box, LOL! I'm so glad it was Tommy and that he so quickly and willingly came back into your hands . . . even though it did cause a pain to your bf. Sounds like you are both fully and completely hooked.

Oh they are so young, they look about 8-10 weeks of age. They will grow a lot as they mature. Great photos of cute degus ! Thanks for sharing : ) I am so happy you decided to get the other degu as well.
As you get to know them, you will start to note more and more differences in their appearance, but also big differences in their character. After a while, you will be able to tell who is who, without thinking.
As for the noises you hear, dont be alarmed. Degus use sounds to communicate to each other. Even after several years of owning degus, you will still occasionaly hear sounds you have never heard before. They make very varried, low pitch to high pitch sounds...each sound meaning a different thing.
The funniest one is the whining/moaning : D You will hear this alot while they are eating. Each one will take his turn eating at the food bowl and they will whine if the other one comes too close.

Oh they are adorable :-)
It made me laugh when you said that he came running straight to you, thats exactly what mine do, when I have mine out, my hubby tries to pet them and I swear they think its a game to run away from him then they come running back sit on him long enough just for him to slightly move to pet him then they run away again...bless them
He gets quite frustrated when they come running to me and let me kiss them on the top of their heads :-)
They just love me what can I say hehe!
I know exactly what you mean about the babies bark..mine have just found their bark aswell at 5 weeks old, exactly the same at about 5am I hear MEEP....MEEEP lol they must think its my early wake up call :-) I cant blame them they are just too cute :-)

Its loud enough that we can be woken up (heavy sleeper) from 2 rooms away and through 2 doors... If you havent experienced it yet dont worry you will hehehe. They will chatter at each other most of the time. The funniest one is when they throw a little tantrum and stamp their feet while kinda squealing cause they cant get their own way...

Oh that one lol!!!
Yes considering I have a male and female I know what you mean lol!
Oh dear I feel for you then if thats what they are doing at 5am lol!
My babies are just 5 weeks old so none of that going on, just a squeak, still loud enough to wake us up though lol!
I like it when they are eating and then one comes up from behind and then the one eating back kicks them out the way and uses all her body weight to make sure no one gets near her when shes eating lol!

ROTFL!! Yeah, I've seen that little hop. It looks like a bad case of scarey hiccups. Those wear off with more . . . ahem . . . experience.
