Okay so this one turned out a bit funny, and I’ve thought of a few improvements to make it less of a struggle with the machine (it really didn’t like how thick it was) so this will be getting edited at some point. Also, this was made with rats in mind, not goos, so I’d recommend making a cuboid shape with a lower headspace for them as they tend to feel safer in a more enclosed space
What you need is:
1) Pair up the pieces
With one pair draw a circle on it:
2) Cut round the circle and stitch all the way around the outside of the material
3) Turn the piece inside out
4) Stitch around the circle by hand
Optional – quilt the material
5) With the other squares, stitch round the edge, leaving a 5cm/2” gap
6) Turn the inside out
7) Stitch up the gap
Optional – quilt the material
Okay so now you have all the pieces stitched up and here comes the harder part – putting the cube together.

8) Starting with the front panel, pin it to one of the sides (for future reference, side panel 1) so that the faces you want on the outside of the cube are facing towards each other.
This is where the tabs come in, fold them over and place them a few cm/1.5” from the top with the loop sandwiched between the fabric.
9) Stitch down the pinned side and repeat in this order:
*Top piece to back panel
*Back panel to side panel 2 - add tab
*Side panel 2 to front panel - add tab
*Side panel 2 to top piece
* Bottom piece to front, sides and back panel
[/ul]
10) Turn the cube inside out
What you need is:
- 8 pieces of material (square pieces if making a cube, if making a cuboid then 4 longer rectangles of the same size, say 22x13cm/8.7”x5.1” and 2 squares, 13x13cm/5.1”x5.1”)
- 4 smaller pieces of material for tabs (3x8cm)
