I need help now.
I came home today and my degu was lying on his side with his lower stomach deflated. It's very close to just being flat. Nothing seems to have fallen on him, there was nothing that could of fallen on him.
There is another degu that lives with it but i see no signs of a fight and they are very friendly with each other. Does anyone have any clue as to what happened or what is happening to him? His mouth is open and he is breathing in slow gasps.
Is there anything i can do to help him?! If you know anything at all please post it as soon as possible, thank you!!!

Oh heavens!! I've not been on since noon my time . . . I have no idea what to suggest!! This seems extremely strange. I've never heard such a thing. I wonder if some how his abdominal organs have somehow ended up in the chest region? It seems that for that to happen there would have to be a very serious crisis of some sort. If he is still alive I really think that you need to get him into a Vet pronto!!

I have never heard of this before. Take your degu to a local vet, they might perform an x-ray to see what is wrong, although from your post this sounds critical.
I am very sorry Ciesla Please keep us up to date.

Definitely take him to the vet asap. I must admit we've not hear this before so keep us posted with what happens.

Sounds like a possible prolapse. Try to get him to a vet ASAP, when you move him try to keep him in the same position he is in now, the degu has likely taken the position that is most comfortable to ease his pain. Hurry up!
Keep us posted!
